Now We Even Hate Flags?

Important to remember the Stars & Stripes flew over many, many evil things and actions:
slave ships, slave auctions, the US Government that allowed Jim Crow, the US Government that allowed Separate But Equal, the US Army that murdered huge numbers of American Indians and herded them onto reservations, the Trail of Tears, the US Army that killed Civil War Draft Rioters, the US Army that killed Americans in Shay’s Rebellion, the US Army that killed Americans in the Whiskey Rebellion, the US Army that killed Bonus Marchers, the Internment Camps for Japanese Americans during WWII, the US Army that used nuclear weapons on Japan, the US Government that allowed slavery, The US Government that denied women the right to vote, the US Government that allowed LSD experiments on American Citizens, etc…. I could go on; but I think you get the picture. The Flag of the United States of America has flown over atrocities, massacres, denial of civil rights, and yet THAT flag is fine.

Yet somehow the Confederate Battle Flag is evil. I’m missing something! I love America and I love the American Flag despite all of these things because they are all part of our history and history changes just as cultural norms and societies change along with what we find normal and acceptable.

People seem to be forgetting that America was a vastly different place 30 years ago, 50 years ago, 100 years ago and what was acceptable and normal then is not acceptable now and vice versa.

Remember, if Bruce Jenner had tried to do what he did today 50 years ago, he would have had his ass beaten by the guys in his neighborhood and then been locked up in the nuthouse. But today he/she is some kind of hero. People need to lay off the Confederate Battle Flag. Just sayin.’
